The day I start making chicken clothes, put me in the home 😝. I have seen the knit sweaters. Folks, I grew up on a farm, and we apparently had hardy chickens because they lived through the winter as my busy parents had little time to dress them for the weather. (Oh we dressed them all right...for the dining room table).

My chickens don't have their rooster anymore but those sweaters might be good for molting season. I've read that some chickens are a bit embarrassed when their feathers start falling out.

There really is a pecking order (real pecking/bullying) in a flock of chickens.

Apparently that's a thing, Blue Bell. I grew up with a neighbor that made custom capes for her concrete duck statue. She had different ones for every month of the year & special ones for any holidays. Too bad she made it look so cute because once the Travelocity commercials came out, people started stealing the duck to take it on holiday. She'd get postcards & letters from the duck on its travels, and eventually it would find its way back home but sometimes not for a 5-6 months. She was as heartbroken by each theft -- especially the first few -- as if someone had kidnapped one of her children. It was hard not to find it comical ... it was a clothed duck statue!!!

Bree, I guess that dressing ornamental chickens isn't unusual after all. I don't remember how long the RI lady did this but she continued for a long time. All good things come to an end, or came to an end, when she passed away.

Our neighbors have free range Chickens once in a while my dog thinks they look like fun I think he would be even more attracted if they were wearing colorful vests! Just boil up the rooster!

It has been fun reading all of your comments. I loved osewme's comment about chicken embarrassment. The vests are done except for the buttons. I am sewing them on tonight. Will post pictures when done.

I am having fun with it. It cracks me up that it is so silly, yet here I am doing it.
