Clever idea -
What if you used one of the solids in the center and the other one on both sides
green burgundy green with plaid on the ends
or burgundy green burgundy with plaid on the ends?
You said you had the pieces cut, so I would imagine that you want to salvage as much of it as you can.

You're welcome Bonnie. There were lots of great ideas tossed around here. Glad you were able to find a resolution. And I know they will be a very welcome gift...just because of the love and care that is going into them.

You did a great job with the design BillsBonBon, so any choice you made would have been a good one. I am glad you are happy with your final result because the way you feel about your work is very important. Kind of gives you a warm glow and fuels you up for the next project. I'm sure your friend will be over the moon with such a lovely gift.
