I shared awhile back about my great-aunt giving me boxes upon boxes of fabric that belonged to who her mother whom was a seamstress for decades in Lancaster, PA. And how I found hundreds of Dresden Plates already cut stuffed in one of the boxes (which I have since assembled!)

Anyways, I decided a few days ago that I wanted to sort my fabric by color - to make it easier for me to see what I have. Well, I sorted what was already in my craft room so this evening I started sorting these boxes that were given to me.... not only did I find mass amounts of beautiful fabric.... I also found these...........

I'm sorry if this is small.... but here's my question...... are they for a Wedding Ring Quilt?
I'm pressing them so I can put them in a storage box until I can get to them. There are about 250-300 of these pieces. They are already sewn together in the arched pieces so to me, the "hard part" is finished! lol

If these are for a Wedding Ring Quilt I would love to get some patterns for completing one!

Can you work without a pattern? So many of us prefer to make our own patterns. Why not lay the pieces out on the bed and arrange, rearrange them until you like the look? Does it have to be someone else's pattern?

Yep. That looks like you got yourself a scrappy double wedding ring quilt. Are there any four square pieces to go with the arcs or any melons? If you would like to finish the quilt I suggest you look for some Double Wedding Ring quilt books, choose one that you like and make a small one before you attempt to finish someone else's work. I have a DWR that I finished last year and am in the process of hand quilting it. I have renamed it the "quilt from hell" only because I started it about 20 years ago and it was hard to get it all the fit together nicely. But I will be gifting it to my grandson and his wife and there are no Quilt Police in their home.

I think you are correct, they were for a wedding ring quilt. I'm sure you can find a pattern on line. Just google it. Good luck.

Thanks for the input! Yes, I can work without a pattern. In fact, ALL my quilts have been done without a pattern. lol

I'm so excited to have found these beauties! I can hardly wait to get all my other projects completed just so I can start this one!

There was a stack of 2 1/2" squares in one of the boxes that weren't sewn together - it seems to me that those fabrics didn't match anything in these arches - but I would need to dig them back out to be sure. Thanks for reminding me about those!

The squares do not have to match the fabric. It is usually the melons and the center that is a contrasting fabric, usually white but it can be any color you want it to be.

Yep, looks like Double Wedding Ring. You can also visit Quilterscache.com, about.com/quilting. Does it really take about 20 years to make one? My daughter wants me to make her one. Looks like I should have started on it on her wedding day, her 20th anniversary is coming up this summer. I have fabric and pattern ready. Now to start cutting.

No, it does not take 20 years to finish one. Mine was started then put away when it was about half done. I found it when it I was re-organizing and realized that it needed finishing. I should have planned to make a small one but decided to do the queen size. Then the next big mistake was to have a different quilting pattern for the centers. It is too big for machine quilting so I am hand quilting it. AAARG. I am always biting off more than I can chew.

Yes, this is definitely for a double wedding ring and in feedsack fabrics too!
