My e-bay won Singer 301 sewing machine arrived. DH wanted to know why I was biding on a non working sewing machine. I only paid $40 for it. I though the reason it "didn't work" was that it was treaded wrong. I was right! They had the needle in backwards and had it treaded wrong. The bobbin tread in the machine was heavy ulpoltry(sp) thread. Also had the feed dogs dropped. God bless the person who lost the sewing manual so they were not able to find all the things "wrong" with the machine. :-)

Wow, good for you. What a great find and at a great price. You're so clever to have guessed the problem.
