A friend called me earlier asking me how to do the knot when tying a Fleece No Sew Tie Quilt. I tried explaining it to her by looking at mine.
I guess I wasn't explaining it well so I was wondering how you would explain to someone how to do the box knot for that. Or if anyone knows a website to send her for instructions for tying the knot.

Oh i found someone a link for that. can't remember where but it was for a simple knot like I do. a slip knot i believe. i make my fringe cuts at least 3 or 4 inches long, take one top and bottom fringe and fold it around my fingers pulling the end trough. it slips up nicely near the body of the quilt and lays flat. now you can also just tie a regular knot, one over and one under again. either works fine.

The square not is tied left over right, pull snug and then right over left and pull snug.

I found that an overhand knot made with both layers held together lies flatter and works quicker. I made one for my son and knew he wouldn't like the ruffly look of the square knot.

A normal square knot. Right over left and left over right. I must have done 25 of them one Christmas. This is a guarantee. Have fun.

I prefer the overhand knot with both top and bottom held and tied together as one.
A hint though---I just made a Hannah Montana pillow kit from JoAnns for my great niece and I learned one thing the hard way----tie the knots on the sides that DO NOT stretch first---then on the stretchy sides last. Especially if you are going to insert a pillow form.
I did not realize this until too late and it was not easy.
If you are making your own, make sure your strips are at least 4 inches long or longer.
Other than that, they are simple and fun.
