Default Oh, the things kids come up with.

My 11 year old granddaughter just got a new bed and her mother painted her headboard pink and purple, at her request. It's not my style, but oh well, she loves it and that's all that matters. Anyway, I was visiting the other day and she informed me that she needs a new quilt for her new bed. OK, I can do that, so I asked her if she had any special request. She politely informed me, and I quote, "Grandma I DON'T want anything "girly" like you made me last time. It has to be pink and purple, and I want soccer balls on it too" OK, well we can do that but I had to ask how pink and purple isn't "girly" to begin with? She informed me that as long as there are NO flowers, butter flies, tea cups or any other "girl stuff" it's not "girly." All I could do was look at her and smile. So now grandma is on a mission to complete a pink, purple, soccer ball non-girly quilt by Christmas. This is going to take some imagination. LOL

Look for geometric prints - stripes, polka dots, squares, cubes, etc.

LOL, I agree. I'd almost say pick some black and white soccer ball fabric and just add bits of purple and pink. Room is going to feel stuffy (not to mention girly) with all the vibrant color.
