Our family has spent a lot of time at a nearby hospital where our brother is a patient. He has a brain injury from a fall and we have to admit him to a nursing home. The hospital social worker has gone beyond her duty to help us during this difficult time.

I would like to make her a wall hanging for her office and I would like to have it represent her work either in choice of blocks or in some other way.

Do any of you have any ideas about this? I am drawing a blank.......that seems to be the case in many areas of my life these days.

Thanks for your help.

With other families going through tough times being in her office, I would include an inspirational / uplifting quote.

Sorry to hear about your brother. I will keep him in my thoughts.

Hearts is certainly a great theme. Can't think of anything else either. Maybe embroider some of the "Love Chapter" from the Bible on a center motif. I Corinthians 13:4-7

I started thinking along the "heart and hand" theme and googled for inspiration. Here's what I came up with:

I like the idea of the heart in the hand in warm colors to represent a warm heart, and scrappy to represent the variety of people that she probably helps. The inspirational quote is also a wonderful idea. You could put all these ideas together and come up with a beautiful wall hanging!

I am a social worker. This is a picture of a poster I have hanging in my office. Just yesterday, I was thinking it would make a great quilt. See what you think.

A word to the wise: some hospitals have rules preventing social workers, nurses, and other allied professionals from accepting gifts. You might want to check with a supervisor before undertaking this project. Some hospitals will allow gifts that can be shared with everyone on staff, like a box of candy.

Sorry, I couldn't avoid the reflection because it's behind glass.
