Favorite Fabrics

... are there a handful of fabrics that are particularly memorable, simply because you used SO MUCH of them?

Do you remember those fabrics as dear old friends, or did they "wear out their welcome"?

And do you have any bits and pieces of them left?

LOL that would be my fall flannels for a rag quilt. I bought enough to make about 5....then there was leftovers....ordered more fabric....made more quilts.... REPEAT You get the idea. I lost count of the number of quilt, not all of them rag that I made. The last batch of fabric went into a crazy quilt. And I still love the fabric.

I had a green fabric that I used in a bunch of baby quilts. It was the perfect color to go with most other baby fabrics and I loved it. I used every bit I had and then hunted for more. I searched online, I carried a piece all over the US trying to find it and finally gave up after a couple of years.

And about a year I stopped in a shop right down the street from you Nancy in East Aurora, looked at their sale fabrics and actually shrieked (that was kind of embarrassing for me and scary for others but I couldn't help it). There it was!

I bought the last three yards and am now afraid to use it because I know this will be the end of it for real. :?

Noxious yellow satin bridesmaid dresses! It was not my friend. It was ugly. The pattern was ugly. It was hard to sew. Nothing about it was fun and I'm not even friends with the girl I did it for anymore!

Daylily Days by Renee Nanneman of Need'l Love for Andover Fabrics. I still grab up every morsel I run across because it is simply the best 'transition' line I have ever known. It goes with everything.

I have enough St Patrick fabric to a zillion quilts. I made my sister a St Patrick quilt, shamrocks and the likes. She liked her quilt to much she went out an found more ST Pat fabric to go with ALL I already have.

The first quilted item I made that wasn't a practice pot holder. I graduated myself to a table runner for a Secret Santa present. Used Chrismas fabrics that had gold highlights and a gold lame binding!! OMG that was just plain stupid. When I was cleaning out my sewing room last year my husband picked up a bit that was left and asked "where should I put this one" "BIN IT!!".

No more Lame fabric allowed in this house.

The dark green in this quilt has been in several quilts since then....and I still have a few smallish pieces of it left! It seems to be the fabric that keeps on giving! LOL

I don't ever buy in large enough quantity of any one fabric for that to happen. :)

There is a certain dark blue, however, that I would LIKE to buy a bolt of some time, just because it is a color I like and can imagine using often.
