Not sure if I posted any info on what I'm doing for a wedding gift. I've got 3 blocks made of 24 blocks I'm working on now. My quilt blocks are 12 1/2''. I want to make the quilt block 20-24'' big. I only want to make 3-4 blocks. These blocks will be used for the backing of quilt only. I dont really want a plain backing. I will post the measurements I'm useing. And some blocks, I've made already. To the story of what I'm doing. My sister/law and 2 of her co workers wants me to make a wedding gift--a quilt. For a coworker at their job I'm so desperate, I will pay something for HELP. And this is just a thought, I'm working on in my head. 20'' will fine with me ok, also. Everyone have a nice holidays comming up. I don't know exactly what you are asking. This may help:

The size of the block you want divided by the size you have or...

9" divided by 6" = 1.50

Multiply by 100 to turn this into a percentage...

1.50 times 100 = 150%
Enter 150% into the appropriate prompt in the copy machine and print.

I taped 4 sheet of graph paper. The size of the block I can only make is 15'' on graph paper. NOT 24''So I guess instead of a 12 1/2'' block a 15'' block. Don't know why I was thinking 24'' blocks

One could make a 24 inch block - or any size block that is easily divisible by 6 - it drafts nicely on a 6 x 6 grid.

If you are willing to put a seam where I drew a red line, it is a lot easier to draft it.

And assemble it, too - as far as that goes.

the blocks pictured are soooo beautiful!!!
..i do as bearisgrey illustrated. i have always drafted my own blocks ..sometimes it's just faster than going upstairs and turning on the computer and waiting for EQ7. i have several sizes of drafting tablets from 24x30 down to 8 1/2 x 11. then one yard sale i sruck paydirt and found a full roll of draftsman quality of drafting paper

Hi Don, This chart should help you draft a 15" (finished) block, if that is the size you need. I also have a foundation-pieced chart I can send you if that would help. Also if you really want a 24" pattern I can send it too. You would need to pm me your email.

This is where a proportion scale works well. If Onebyone has figured correctly, and the enlargement is 150%, make a copy on your printer at 150% and add the appropriate 1/4" per segment. With a home copier it will take several sections to make a complete 20" block, but a commercial printer or copy center could make one with no trouble. It would be better to have a hard copy to have duplicated, but a quilt block may work if it is square.

Don this is a going to be beautiful, hope to see the finished quilt. I know I can make the center star as I just made Bonnie Hunter's Cathedral Stars quilt. Now I see yours in my future. Is there a pattern. Please consider doing a tutorial. (grin). I'm always so impressed with your quilts. This is the first time I'm actually considering doing one of yours.

I don't have a clue in how to help you but just wanted you to know the colors you are using and the pattern is going to be beautiful. How kind of you to help a friend out. Please share a pic when you get your quilt top done.
