I have used a paste made of dishwasher detergent to get pen out of DH's dress shirts--they were permanent press, but some were all cotton. I would make a paste and leave it set for a bit, then rinse it out and repeated until it was gone.

"Goop" stain remover has worked on stains that had been set in on red items. It washed out and no fading of the red color! I wish you luck!

I just did hand embroidery on a piece and because I did not want to use my light to trace I copied it from my printer then when finished put a small amount of detergent and an even smaller amout of bleach in a pan and everyhing but the colors washed out. I had even left the web site info on the bottom and now you would never know it,

I posted already but, I remembered that I use to take pen marks out of hubbies shirts with hair spray

With the paste you might also use a soft toothbrush to gently scrub the area.

If using a pencil, the softer the lead the better. Like a 3B or 4B, usually available wherever art supplies are sold.
