    Ireland and Germany traveling/shops?

Hi, I will be travelling to Ireland ( March) and Germany (May) and am interested in finding a good place to get some fabric. All suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Hopefully someone can give you some good pointers. I would imagine that Dublin has some good outlets. Be warned though prices for fabric in this part of the world are very high. While Eire may be slightly cheaper, Northern Ireland prices will be on a par with the rest of the UK. I hope you enjoy your trip to Europe.

Sounds like a fun trip! What part of Germany will you be in? Most of the quilt shops there carry US fabrics at about $30/meter.... I did find Westfalen fabrics that are usually used in "costume" sewing, and collected & made a quilt from that.

I just did a quick Internet search for Irish outlets. Prices range around $26 per metre. About $42 for Irish tweeds.

    Which part of Germany?
As already mentioned, the price of fabric is much higher than here and it is often the same fabric as here. However, I also bought some German fabric that was very pretty. Wetfalen (sp?) sounds familiar.

Fabric are very expensive in that part of the world and most of the quilt fabrics you will find are back here in the states. Have fun !!

Absolutely correct. Until very recently it was cheaper for me to pay import charges from US than to buy here where there isn't such a good choice of fabrics. It was only after our mail service was privatised with a consequent exorbitant rise in charges that it became prohibitive.

I imagine yarn might be more reasonable but I could be wrong.
