My husband is building me a large rectangular plywood top for my ironing board, and I'm wondering if anyone can give me any pros or cons to using steam on a wooden ironing board. Also, what kind of padding do you recommend?

Use Marine plywood for outside use, and you should be ok

Mine is regular plywood that I covered with several layers of cotton quilt batt then heavy fabric. Mine has been wonderful. The only thing I would have changed is I stapled mine and I wish I would have made it removable so I could wash it.
