Red face It's official I have no self-control!

A wonderful person posted here on the QB about a wholesale fabric place that will be selling the Minion fabric that is set to come out on June 15th. It's more than adorable. There were 2 different panels and 12 other fabrics that have minions. And the worse part was I do not have a wholesale license (which is probably a good thing now) so I searched the web to see who is going to sell this adorable fabric. And I found the Cozy Quilt shop here in El Cajon has it on advance sale.

The only self control I had was I ordered only one panel and 1 yard of each of 9 different fabrics.

I do not have a pattern in mind, I do not have anyone but me to make something out of the fabric - but it is so very cute! It is a LQS so I am paying top dollar for it - but I just could not resist.

Last weekend I went to another quilt shop (Memory Lane Quilt Shop) in El cajon and they had Dumbo fabric. I had never seen Dumbo fabric before and so I was going to buy a yard for future use - as we talked and I told her I wanted to make something for my DD who has loved Dumbo since she was 18 months old (she is now 30). She suggested I make a pillow case - so instead of 1 yard I bought 2. (See I have no self control.)

Sometimes we just have to have a collection or particular print when we see it.
I am certainty guilty of this. And my hubby... Oh my! Went into a quilt shop one time with him for a cone of thread - he saw the newly released wizard of oz fabric collection - while I'm choosing my thread he was stacking bolts on the cutting table! That little $15 stop wound up costing over $200!!! And, its been 4-5 years, the fabrics are still in the bag, on the shelves- I've never figured out/found time to do anything with them.
Sometimes he is much worse than I am at self control.

Perhaps we're all infected with the same urge that made me buy a magazine last week purely because it has 250 paper hexies as a free gift - dispite already having a fiskars hexie stamp cutter, and probably well over 1000 card hexies already cut and waiting! I needed those paper hexies like a fish needs a bicycle lol.....

I understand having no self control. I try to control my spending on fabrics using my credit card and put a max on how much each month but as most of us know it doesn't always work out that way. I buy fabric cause I like it and have no plans for it at the time I purchase it. My friend who makes lots of quilts buys as she needs it, I buy because I just want it so I have a large stash. I've run out of room for fabrics so that's stopped me for a short period of time plus I went over my budget for the month on the credit card so have tried to curb myself for a month or two. So far so good for this month but still have another month to go with curbing and don't know how long I can hold out.

I call it the quilter's disease. My late DH used to say he wasn't sure which I lived most...quilting or collecting fabric! I honestly have no idea. I love both! Beats drugs for sure!

    self control - I try - Honest!

But DH got contacted by a lady in the nearby town about vintage sewing machines. Turns out she's retiring and downsizing, and had managed to collect a few machines over the years. However after looking at the machines, she asked if I wanted to look at the fabric she had for sale downstairs. She's also a quilter and needed to clean out her stash . . .

DH bought one machine, I bought over 30 yards of fabric.

I keep telling myself - No more buying for stash! But it goes out the window as soon as I either see a great sale, or something I fall in love with.
My name is Cathy - and I'm addicted to old sewing machines and their attachments.
