I bought this machine for my little granddaughter for Santa to leave for her. She wants to learn to sew and wants Santa to leave her one. Lexi is 5 and loves to play with fabric scraps.

I put a Singer Chain stitch on layaway at Kmart but returned it after I saw so many horrible reviews for that machine. It was $29.99 and this Janome is $47.99 with free shipping and no tax. Has anyone used this little machine? I know it is not for children but I hate to waste my money on the Singer. I figure that I can use it if she doesn't like to sew later on.

Awww, it's so cute. I've bought stuff from Allbrands before, no problems at all. I'm sure the machine will work fine, it's not like it's some complicated bazillion dollar embroidery machine with a million parts that can break. What a great little machine for the new little sewer/quilter.

She'll love it.

I haven't seen the machine, but if it were me I would buy a real machine (like you are doing) than a toy.

I used to go to a sewing group that was at at Janome dealership. A few of the ladies had mini machines they would bring to the sewing groups. I think the one they had was called a Jem for some reason. They all loved their little machines :)

Walmart has a Brother sewing machine on sale Friday for $50 also.. at least I *think* it was Walmart.

I first looked at the Janome Jem and it is over $180. I didn't see any reviews for this little machine. I just hope it will be fairly easy for her to use.

What a great idea - sometimes the other cheap machines really don't work well - this Janome looks like a nice basic machine.
