Default Janome 760 vs3160 QDC

I'm looking for a lightweight machine for classes etc. Which one would you choose?

I would choose the 3160. I have a 760 and it weighs the same as the 3160 but the 3160 is a full size machine. The 760 is a 3/4 size. When I used the 760 if I was piecing anything with any weight to it I always felt like it was going to tip over. I'm much happier with the 3160 and it has the thread cutter and needle up-down; I don't remember if the 760 has those.

I have a Bernina at home. I have the Janome 760 which I bring to workshops and classes and just love it. Many of my friends own the 760 for the same reason and they all love it too. Has the needle up/down and automatic threader (not the cutter). For what I purchased it for (maybe 6 times a year) it works just fine.

I have the 3160 and love it. Use it to carry traveling or classes. Not heavy and does a great job. Sometimes I have it out and use it instead of my Janome 12000.

I don't think the 3160 is a full size machine. I have the 4120 which is the next generation and it's really small as is the 3160. I use it for classes only and keep it in my car at all times. I wouldn't use it as my main machine because I am so used to the Acufeed on my Horizon 7700 that I find myself very frustrated with any machine that doesn't have it.

Ladies, have you tried free motion quilting with your 3160 and are you happy with the results? Next time I go to my dealer I'll get a foot if you all think it does well.
