Default Janome 9500 - Can anyone advise me? Please!

I have a Janome 9500 and it is giving me problems. It sounds like it is struggling. My dh has said he will look at it for me as he always fixes my old ones. My question is how do we get the case off the machine? Is there a special tool?

I really wouldn't advise having your husband who knows nothing about computerized machines tinkering with it. I fix all kinds of old machines and would never take on expensive, warrantied, computerized machines...

Get it to the shop, mother boards are very expensive !!! Only a trained, warrantied professional should touch it. It's one thing to fix a mechanical machine (I do my own too) but not a computerized one.

I think I will take that advice as I have no choice really. It was sweet of my dh to want to try.
I just had it in the shop a few months ago and had them give it the once over and havent use it much. Good thing I have other machines and this one will be gone at leat 4 weeks. I just hope it is nothing to serious.

I have a Janome 9700 machine. I would not try opening the machine. The only area I would attempt to open is the bobbin area to clean it. I would advise you to take it to the shop and have them look at it.

Allow someone trained to do it.

I agree, especially if it's still under warranty.

It sounds really sluggish! Like it is struggling. What concerns me also, is I will be sewing and and it has stopped several times. NOt sure I even like to think about what that could be. Guess I will bring it in to the shop, I know they will want to sell me a diffrent one. I know a lot of people upgrade their machines and I have been happy with this one til now. Will see what happens.
