I've had 2 Janomes (love them) and I use generic bobbins - they work fine for me.

Are you kidding me? I'd hate to think my 4800 was sold for $12! The walking foot is worth that much. Have no problem with most bobbins. My machine is not picky like I hear some being and I love it. It's a great basic machine.
