Default Janome Memory Craft 6500P Worth It?

Hi guys,
Having used their machines in the past, I am a big fan of Janome. I feel a big purchase coming on and have my sights set on the Janome Memory Craft 6500P. Reviews on Amazon seem very favorable, but I would love to get some input from fellow members here.

Does anyone have and good positive or (eek!) horror stories to tell about this high end hybrid?
Thanks
Julee

Check out www.patternreview.com for additional machine reviews too.

Hi Julee,
I have the 6600P....which I really love. The difference between the 6500 and 6600 is the integral walking foot which I do use for quilting I have to say.
The only complaint I have about my machine is the paint work niggle it does mark easily.
I think the 6500 is really good with reviews I've seen but it would depend on price...Janome have just brought out some new machines so you should get a good price.....I would be tempted however to phone round and see if you ould get the 6600 cheap ...you wouldn't be disappointed, a real work horse.
Good luck...let me know what you decide.

I have the 6500 and have owned it since 2004 (I think that was the 2nd year it came out.). I love it. If anything happened to it, I would buy another.

I was all set to purchase the 6500, then asked, what the next model or two up were ... 6600 and 7700.

There were enough extras that there was no doubt in my mind to leave the 6500 behind.
I did purchase the 6600, thinking I had so much space in the throat, that there was no need for the extra 2" of the 7700.

I loved it from the start, though wish now I had gone for the 7700!

Check the specs for these three machines ... and compare them to the newer 8900 (and is it 8800?) ... and see what you want for the long term. Not just now.

Janomes have a good name for the value, so it's really a matter of determining which model is best for you ... and of course, the price and knowing you have a reliable dealer for support/service after. Good Luck!!!!!!!

Take the 6600 over the 6500 for the walking foot. If you have the money, the 8200 is the newer technology.

I have the 6600P also, and would not do without the walking foot...a lot less clunky than the add on ones. My mom has the 11000SE (way more expensive, although it also embroiders) and she doesn't have the acufeed foot.

I have the 6600 and love how well she performs.....I would definitely think about jumping up a machine grade in order to get the accufeed, it's well worth it!
