I am ready to start the jelly roll quilt where all the strips are sewn together then cut and sewn etc. Are they sewn straight across or on ther bias as binding is done?
I'm not sure which would look the best. Any suggestions :?:

The ones I have seen are sewed on an angle - does that help ?

I like bias. It looks like a fun quilt.

Both ways work. The slant takes longer, but is a very striking look.

The first strip you should cut in half and then sew all the strips together for the first time on a 45 degree angle. By sewing on a 45 degree angle your seams will give a staggered look. I personally like this look. Have fun. I've made two so far.

I like to use bias. It has some give in it.

Both ways work. Depends on the look you want.

I have asked this another time but am asking again, I always wash my fabrics to remove the smell and be clean before cutting and sewing. Should the Jelly Roll strips be washed before sewing? Will it shrink if not washed?

I don't wash jelly rolls because it would just be a pain in the hiney for me, but there are people who do. Some people have to because of allergies, etc...
