Thumbs up Jelly roll quilts, etc.

I would like to request all ladies and gents to post pics of their jelly roll quilts, etc. I would like to see what can be done with the rolls and how many it took to make it. I am still learning
    Thank you!

Here's a good place to start.

I'll see if I can find a picture of my French Braid quilt. One jelly roll will usually make a small quilt. It all depends on the pattern. If you use a lot of background fabric then you don't need as much. I suggest you choose your pattern first before purchasing your jelly roll(s). Sometimes I find I want to make a quilt and it needs a mix of jelly roll and layer cakes and all I bought are jelly rolls or vice versa.

EasyPeezy - On that website, are they all jelly rolls or just one of them? Sometimes I need more teaching

That one you made is cool. How did you makes yours go zig-zag?

this should be fun to watch,
This is 1 jelly roll, sometimes referred to as a "potato chip" quilt, because you can't make just one.

Do you cut the ends of each jelly roll strip or what? Is it diagonally (msp) or straight cut?

Yes, you have to cut the ends which is part of the selvage...just like yardage except it's only 2.5". Each strip is cut across the width of fabric. For the pattern it is from Jelly Roll Quilts by Pam & Nicky Lintott.
When I'm using jelly rolls, I cut each strip in half. It's easier to starch a 20" strip than a 40" strip. If you ever make a French Braid I strongly recommend heavy starching because you will be working on the bias and gentle handling when you're sewing. Don't let the braid hang or pull (even with starch it can stretch a bit). Same for tube quilting.
