I have also made a couple. As mentioned, a single accent color as used in the jelly roll race 2 (with squares) or jelly roll race 3( with triangles) does tie the quilt together. Google these 2 quilt names to see the MSQC video tutorials.

I do it all the time. Is a great way to use up some "scraps". they make really neat quilts. There are pictures of them online. and different ideas too - applique something on them, add white squares or triangles between the strips. The looks are endless.

I made my own "jelly roll" and went racing. I dipped into two of my fabric bins and chose greens for one quilt and pinks for a second. Honestly, they were OK but nothing to cheer about. There is something about all the colors having the same tones that make the purchased jelly rolls work well. I have not tried a true scrappy jelly roll. Give it a try and post a photo for us to see.

Kathleen, I like you Christmas "race". The addition of the white squares and of course the trees and snowflakes. They make the quilt more interesting by breaking up the linear feeling of all the strips. I keep promising myself that I will add pink oversized flowers to my pink Jelly Roll Race quilt but .... there are so many other terrific quilts to make!

Yes, when I could not afford to purchase a jelly roll, I cut 2.5" from stash fabric I had. Since I had cut many, many strips, I shared with a fellow member who did not have any cut. She finished hers and was very pleased with the result. I finished mine later. We will have a JR3 at an in-house retreat later this month. Thanks to MSQ, I now have several jelly rolls to make a selection choice. I still have a few of those strips which I have used for other projects.

Kathdavis, I pinned your quilt when I saw it on Pinterest. Absolutely love it! Did you use polka dot fabric on some of the trees or did you add something? The fabric looks the same on some of them, but some have the dots.
