Jelly Rolls and Pre-washed fabric
#1
I am about to embark on my first foray into pre-cut fabrics. The pattern I am wanting to use calls for a jelly roll, a layer cake, and 3 yards off the bolt fabric.
Normally, I always pre-wash my fabrics for shrinkage and bleeding issues.
This brings me to a dilemma... Do I pre-wash the yardage as usual? Will I then face shrinkage in parts, but not all of my quilt?
If I don't pre-wash the yardage, will it shrink at a consistent rate with the pre-cuts?
Am I just over-agonizing on this?
Thanks for any advice, anecdotes, or just silly comments you may want to contribute.

Hi Sorcha, I like to wash jelly rolls in a mesh bag so they don't ravel a lot and twist. I also wash yardage and do them the same way I would wash a finished quilt- warm-cool wash, low dry. Hope this helps!!
By the way- those cuts are so much fun to work with. Have fun!!! :D

I wouldn't (and don't) wash any pre-cuts. I also don't wash any fabric that I will be using with them (if I plan ahead). I have project ready to go that I purchased 2 jelly rolls and the fabric to go with it, and won't be pre washing any of it. I will wash the finished quilt before I gift it.
