I have just acquired quite a bit of Jersey fabricmixed in with quilting fabric that I bought from someone on Craigslist.
My question is can you use the jersey fabric to make quilts? Most of the pieces are 2 yards wide, from must are quite wide.

I think you can use them but you will probably have to put some kind of facing or interfacing on the back to keep it from stretching so much.... I once made a baby quilt for my GD from her sons baby things, from blankets to clothes. Without a backing it would have been very hard to do.

I make baby blankets from knit. It's two layer of knit then I put a binding on it. They make great couch throws also. If you want to make some and need help pm me. Baby blankets are 30 by 40 or 45 by 45. The couch throws are 45 by 72 or 60 by 72.

Rather than trying to stabalize the fabric for quilting, perhaps you should consider using it or donating it for chemo caps for cancer patients. I know there is a tuban style that requires jersey for the stretch and drape to make the hat fit properly. I'm just not sure that you would be happy having jersey in your quilt and I don't think that it would work that well mixing it with cotton. Fabrics with that much stretch just weren't designed for quilting in my opinion and there are probably many cancer patients who would be thrilled with a new cap.

I know I will not use all of the jersey fabric I have. Can you PM me the address of the place to donate the fabric to.
I looked online, but didn't see any locally. If someone can use it I would be thrilled.
Thanks in advance,
Jan
