I had to take someone to the airport today so combined the trip with a trip to JoAnn Fabric...hehe :D
They were just putting out some new bolts of material and it was pretty and a nice weight and only regular priced at $3.99
Seems like all the material my local JoAnn's gets in is all running $8.99 and even more.

I personally really like Joann's they have such good coupons and I use the online coupon in conjunction with the ones I get in the mail and my paper. They have a great vaiety of calicos and quilting fabric here.

our joanns doesn't let you double-dip or use the coupons on clearance goods.

they've become very chintzy about what you can actually get using the coupons. everything is 25% off all the time, no coupons allowed.

also, most of the bolts on the wall are crappy and the ones on the shelves are way expensive. they're really taking advantage of the fact that they're
    the only game in town.

since so many people here at the board are very pleased by their local Joann's i guess not all their stores stock to the same prices and standards. we've all seen lots of pics of very nice fabs folks have bought there at good prices.

A wise shopper has to educate himself with consumer products, including fabric and notions. I'm sure we have all become bargain hunters! Use up your stash before looking for more is my motto. :) :) :)

Before Wal-Mart ditched the fabric, I had to search to find nice quality, and it's becoming increasingly like that at the three Joann's between my apt. and the office. (It's only started to become like this in the past six months to year.)

This is probably a good thing for those of us with other options. It gives us a reason to support the smaller local shops instead of feeding the corporate giants. I wouldn't mind digging to find things, but JoAnn's higher quality items are a very similar price as the LQS. If I'm paying LQS pricing, I'm going to the LQS and buy what I really want.

    i think you're right, patrice.

i think that the stores may be franchises, with each owner making his own rules. otherwise, i can't understand the complete differences in what they allow.
