Is there an easy way to join 2 pieces of batting together without any hand sewing? I know about that tape, but my LQS doesn't carry it and don't want to wait for shipping right now, lol!

Butt the pieces up against each other and run them through the sewing machine on the widest zig zag available...

Some machines actually have a joining or butting stitch just for joining 2 like pieces edge to edge. It looks like railroad tracks but the zig zag stitch was working fine for a long time before the joining stitch was even thought of.
