I used to overlap the two pieces, cut with a slightly wavy line, then sew together by hand. It worked great but was time consuming. Then I tried using a fusible interfacing, and that was not fun either. Finally I tried zigzagging by machine with the two straight edges butted against each other, and for me that is working best. Once the quilting is done, I can't find the seam in the batting, and it is fast and easy.

I like the wide tape, you butt the two pieces and it melds them together, no extra thickness and it is really fast

    - The fusible tape is actually nothing more than lightweight/featherweight [?] Pellon cut in strips. Save your money if you are on a budget and buy the yardage and cut it in strips yourself.

-One of the groups I belong to does just zigzag together in straight straight strips the batting and then use it in charity quilts.

-My preferred method is to overlay the strips and cut a gentle curve then zigzag over those cut edges. That way the sewing of the batting isn't prominent.

Have fun quilting! If it isn't fun, you will miss a lot.
