Default Virtual quilting weekend—April 10-12, 2020

Good morning! Welcome to VQW. What will you be working on? I am hand embroidering whiskers on my garden patch cats this weekend. Then I will work on my feathered star which is my April ufo. Looking forward to seeing and hearing about your projects.

Well hello Raggiemom and other virtual quilters. I'm finally out of my post-Bonnie Hunter Frolic hang over and then the Covid lock down funk and have returned to my daily sewing.

I did this version of Simplish I'm calling Horse with No Name yesterday. I bought the border fabric which will also be the back last year from the $1/yard Walmart sale, it was always meant to be the back of a horse-based donation quilt. Unfortunately, I had a lot less of the desert fabric than I would have hoped for and this came out quite a bit smaller than originally anticipated.

I have a bag of collected fabrics pretty much kitted out, think I will be cutting it today. No fancy name, let's just call it Bunny Star for reasons that should apparent by tomorrow!

Oh good, nice to have this thread started to keep me enthused over this special long weekend. I am doing Sew Incredibly Crazy BOM again this year and also Pumpkin Patch just started a cute little appliqué penguin one... my good machine is still in waiting for a part, so might post pictures with just the fused shapes later.

Yay! Thanks for hosting raggiemom!

Cool quilt Iceblossom,

I’m trying to finish up the quilting on a UFO and also working on thread painting a panel that DH designed using one of his photographs and had printed by Spoonflower. Also want to make some more masks.

Not surprisingly I'm probably still sewing some masks. I'm slower than most. However, I will need a break from it - so I plan to do some wool felt applique/embroidery as well. Maybe finally put the last border and sandwich another UFO? I want to have some joy from sewing this weekend!

Hi everyone, I put the final stitch in the binding of my paper pieced crazy quilt last night. I think I was working on it last VQW. I will be putting the final border on Frolic this weekend.

Shoot, used quick reply so couldn't post a picture, oh well I tried to cut and paste here but that didn't work... So....here is a picture of my design wall...the top right block has the stitching completed, but the others are just fused. The penguin is from Pumpkin Patch and the other blocks are from the Sew Incredibly Crazy blog BOM. The bottom right is a batik mask I made this morning from the Quiltville blog tutorial the other day, it fits well with the halter style neck tie.

I’m in! I’ll be quilting the Hunter’s Star that I finished piecing and basting last weekend. I also want to start piecing some projects that I cut in the last couple of months.

On an unrelated note, I just finished cutting all my scraps into usable squares and strips for me yesterday. I started that project about four weeks ago, working on it one day a week, maybe two. It was so much work I’m going to try to do that as I create the scraps in the future.
