    Were they true when bought? Did you wash them? Perhaps it's shrinkage that had nothing to do with the shop owner.

    This has a whole lot to do with how they're wound on the bolt and the shop owner doesn't have anything to do with that part. The shop owner also doesn't have any control over how much a fabric shrinks. If you need an exact fat quarter then you either need to buy more or don't wash fabric.

    I agree...I work in a fabric store and cut fat quaters all the time..i give about an inch on one side and bout the same on the other. because the fabric is not straight on the bolt when it comes from the factory..that way my customer gets what he/she has paid for..when i get the fabric in i have no idea if it will shrink or not.
