    Yes, I understand about using a single layer for the binding. That would save on fabric for sure.

    I appreciate all the replies. I will have to look for Ricky tims binding ideas too. Thanks for helping to fill my brain with more quilting ideas.

    What you dont know from watching the video are the necessary measurements to cut the 1 yard pieces. They are not both used as is. As far as finishing with the final stitching of the binding, a decorative stitch works great. If you have the correct measurements of everything, the stitching ends up in the right place. Glad I got the download. The video is just a teaser!

    I have used this technique to bind a quilt once. The quilt just wasn't large enough so I added a larger binding to it. It worked well. I prefer to hand stitch the binding down, and that's what I did, but need to learn the machine method.

    The binding on this quilt starts out with an 8.5" wide piece of fabric and finishes at 4".
