Today is the third time that my thread has snapped as I was sewing, and every time it's been the same brand. There was a knot tied at just about the middle of the spool. Fortunately they were gifts, however this is not a good ad for their product. It does not make me want to go out and buy some.

I've had that happen, I assumed it either broke or the one it was winding from ran out, it's very annoying, I almost broke a needle. I don't remember what brand mine was.

That's frustrating! Gift or not, I'd still contact the manufacturer. Maybe they will send you a replacement spool.

I think if that happened to me, I would stop using that brand of thread. If there is a lot of this thread involved, take it back to the store & see if they will exchange it for you!! That is, if it is at all possible.

I have been sewing for 40 years and I have never heard of or experienced such a thing. When I buy a spool of thread I have always assumed that the thread on that spool was one continuous piece. What brand was it?

I had a spool of Maxi-Lock serger thread that was actually cut in the middle of the cone. It had to have been cut on winding the thread as it was below the top layers. I peeled off thread until I found the continuous start and finished the spool.

Something in the mfg. process must have cut it. The spool shouldn't have wound so full otherwise.

I have gotten some from CT that had knots in 2 different places.

I have had this happen as well but mine wasn't spliced it actually just had a knot in the spool, don't know how it happens but it sure does.

I did have that happen to me, and I quit using that thread. It was cheap thread and I decided I was worth quality thread.
