Kona White - Rough Hand at Hobby Lobby?

I just bought a six yard cut of Kona white at Hobby Lobby, and I thought the hand felt a little rough at the store, but I thought it might be the sizing or something. I'm sensitive to the chemicals on fabric, so I couldn't handle it too much. Yesterday, my husband washed it twice, then dried it and it still feels kind of rough. If I remember correctly, my cut of Kona Snow from Joann seemed softer. Is there a difference in Kona between stores, or is it the color, or am I just imagining things?

We used fabric softener in the last wash.

Thanks all!

Sometimes I think stores wrap off brand stuff onto a brand name cardboard - you can feel two totally different feeling pieces of fabric on two bolts in the same store...

According to Kaufman they don't have any different quality for certain stores. I would hope that Hobby Lobby wouldn't wrap other stuff on a bolt but maybe that's what happened. Maybe a clueless employee's idea to recycle?

I think Kaufman Kona is different from other brand(s) of Kona. Have seen posts about different qualities of Kona. Kaufman brand Kona is supposed to be the good stuff.

I thought Kona was a brand made just by Kaufman.

I MAKE CERTAIN (by looking at the end of the bolt) - that my Kona is made by Kaufman when I buy from Hobby Lobby - I think they have different types of 'kona'.

There is a manufacturer by the name of Kona Bay. I think their solids are often confused with Kaufman Kona solids. There may be other kona's also. Based on what I have read, I buy Kona only if it says it is Kaufman.

I think the Kona Snow is the premium muslin. Correct me here if I am wrong. I much prefer the hand of the Kona muslin to that of Kona Cotton. I think it is rough to the touch. I want my quilts to be cuddly, not rough. I know some like the Kona Cotton because it is thicker, but I just don't like it. Washing hasn't ever made it softer for me.
