I do charity quilts for Foster kids and no label is attached so I have gotten use to being anonymously.

I always include a label consisting of my name, city, state, year, fiber content and care instructions. Sometimes I include something about the charity.

I have bought two quilts through silent auctions that were made by someone to support a Nepalese School.

After I got the second one for only $85.00 (about a 60 inch square lap quilt), I wrote to the charity and donated an additional $100.00. I told them it was because I knew that more than$85.00 in materials and work went into the quilt. The charity replied that there is a lady who makes the quilts for them to be auctioned off as fundraisers.

I would love to know more about the quilter, but there are no labels on either quilt.

I make a quilt each year for a fundraiser by a breast cancer organization. I hand-stitch a label to the back of the quilt, with "Made for" and the organization's logo, then my name and the year. If the purchaser wants to remove the label, it is easy to do.

I think I would do something like:

Name of quilt or pattern
MADE ESPECIALLY FOR YOU
By (your name)
Date

I always include a label. I think of it just like the labels in clothes. It is my work and I believe that should be recognized.

I agree, although I would also include the date.
