Default Opinion on label placement

I put together a quilt top with sampler blocks from a block exchange. I checked all the blocks over and repaired seams before I put the sashing on. I sent the top out to be quilted . And now I had the quilt laid out on my big table, pinning the binding on; and I found a block right in the middle that a seam was pulled apart. I tried stitching it up , but one of the fabrics just frays. I can't take it apart to repair it. My only idea to fix it now is to place my label over it. But I usually put my labels on the back. This is for my Niece's graduation. Will this look stupid to have the label on the front and in the middle of the quilt. or should I put something else over it ? Thanks for your advice.

Can you put her name and graduation date on the label. Maybe a graduation cap to.

Could you open the seam a bit more and insert some type of iron-on stabilizer?

I think an "ordinary" label might look strange (hard to say without seeing the quilt) but something like eyes suggested, or some other type of applique, would be perfect.

Maybe dab the exposed raw edges with Fray Check and then applique something over the torn area?

You could applique another fabric over the bad fabric to cover it up. Look at a few tuts on quilt repair to see how it is done.

I think an applique of some sort will be the most permanent fix. I like the name, grad date idea. Might have to steal that one!
