I hope you find your fabric. You're right about this board being a MUST, it's very addictive!

Here is the name of one pattern:
Just Can't cut it. Designed especially for large scale prints that you want to show to their full advantage.
This is sold at many quilt shops. Probably someone clever can find one for sale online and provide you with the link.

You would use your cranes for very large squares (they might be 12" or 15" - can't remember which), plus five coordinating fabrics.

Look at the book "Moon Dance" by Cary Flanagan. It is great with large print Asian fabrics. I got my copy from www.cottonclub.com, but I'm sure you can find it elsewhere. I haven't made a large one yet, but my avatar was made using the pattern for the tote bag.

How large are the cranes that you want to put into a block?

Double Delight is a pattern that has 2 areas for a large piece of fabric.

That's a great pattern for large prints! Thanks for sharing.

Another thing I've seen that was very striking is a large panel set off-center with 9-patch blocks to the left and bottom, then borders all around. I didn't look at the pattern name, but it was haning in a quilt shop I was in last month. If I get back there soon, I will look for the name. It did look like something you could figure out without a pattern.

the BQ quilt pattern uses a very large piece in it, might be good to showcase your fabric
