I received this info in an email from a friend today. This is a camp for families with seriously ill children. Mods if this is the wrong section feel free to move this--I was hoping for maximum viewage :)

Welcome to Camp Sunshine
1984 - 2011: Celebrating 27 Years of Magic!
Nestled alongside the shores of beautiful Sebago Lake, Camp Sunshine provides respite, support, joy and hope to children with life-threatening illnesses and their immediate families through various stages of a child’s illness. The year-round program is free of charge to all families, and includes 24-hour onsite medical and psychosocial support. Bereavement groups are also offered for families who have lost a child to an illness.

Calling All Quilters...We Need Your Help!
We have been so fortunate during the past 11 years to have received several hundred "hugs" from quilters responding to our Hugs of Hope Quilt Program. Since 2000, we have continued to appeal to our friends in the quilting community. Initially they helped provide the quilts, and, subsequently, the replenishments for all 40 family housing suites. Our family members truly adore the quilts, as they provide warmth, comfort, and love during their stay at Camp Sunshine - their home-away-from-home.

As explained in recent Camp publications, construction of our new Orokawa Foundation Family-Volunteer Center will soon be complete, and will include 10 new suites and a volunteer lounge. This new building will house Camp Sunshine families who are now returning as volunteers to "give back" to Camp Sunshine.

As with our family suites, we hope to furnish these new family-volunteer suites with the same "hugs" that greeted families back when they were attending Camp as camper families. We firmly feel that our families returning to volunteer deserve nothing less.

Overall, we need at least 50 quilts for the new family-volunteer units. Because our quilts are really bedspreads, the dimensions are larger than a traditional quilt. Our biggest need is for full sizes, or approximately 96" x 110"; followed by twins, 81" x 110".

The Orokawa Foundation Family-Volunteer Center will be ready for occupancy in May. If you can help in any way, we would be deeply grateful. Should you have any questions, please contact Donna Leith at [email protected] or 207-655-3800.
