I agree, either make a lap quilt or alternate with plain blocks to make it bigger. Getting 2 for 1 is great even with quilts. Your flowers are lovely, by the way.

GFG's make great quilts no matter what size. I do like the applique method with sashing that you mentioned
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort :lol:
