I'm trying to sew the Lemoyne Star in a quilt I'm working on, and I have a question. Every block I make gets bunchy in the corners. I was wondering if you have some tips on how to sew the corners that aren't 90 degree angles so that it doesn't get wrinkley. Thanks

The trick is to press all you seams so they rotate around the block in a circle so when you sew the last seam of the block the seams are 1 layer. Then the bulk is distributed in such a manner to manuver it easier. I know this sounds clear as mud. But if you press the top seams going to the right then the bottom seams need to be pressed to the left. The right side seam goes down and the left up. Then they nestle together when you are going to sew them together. Does that make sense?
Use a hot dry iron and don't scrub! Press up and down, there is bias edges in there ya know.
When you can't use that method, press open the seams so the bulk is easier to sew over.

As I mentioned in another thread, the LeMoyne is my favorite star. RedGarnet222 mentioned pressing all in one direction, here is an example of what she means.....I always have a stray Lemoyne laying around LOL. Now I'm a hand piecer, but the little swirlies can be done, if machine piecing, by gently releasing the stitches in the intersections. By doing this, everything lays so nice and flat.

I also read somewhere that they should be pieced in two halves of four then joined and if there is a little hole in the centre you take a little running stitch around and gather it up. Never done it thoug, it's just something I read!

OK so this might be cheating but I used this pattern actually the first time I saw it it was called LaMoyne star now I can't find it but this turns out simmilar and it is SEW easy, in fact it is the one I used for my very first quilt http://www.quilterscache.com/S/StarflowerBlock.htmlt (avatar Pic)
