writing label on quilt
Do any of you just write your quilt info on the backs with a fabric marker? I've been doing that on my recently completed quilts. So much faster than a fabric label.

I like to put a label that has room for 1>Who the quilt is for, 2. A Bible verse, 3. who made the quilt, the date it was finished and where it was made(city, state). I don't like the idea of writing on the quilt itself but that is just me.

What a great idea if you can write your label information on the back of the quilt if it can be seen on the backing. This way, the information will never be lost. Quilts have been known to be stolen and labels have been removed. I like to make my own labels and attach them to the back. Lately, I have been stitching them down around the edges on the backings and then I go ahead and quilt away. The FMQ secures the labels nicely and the designs look pretty on them.

I know these pens are supposed to be "permanent" but I fear that the ink could blead through to the batting and the front. It possibly could before drying to "permanent" As a quilt judge I know that writing on the back of the quilt always gives a different reaction from me than the separate label. It is not necessarily a negative reaction that effects the judging, but...............
