    Lighted magnifier in the car?

I took my EPP on our Christmas trip and had no problem stitching the fabric around the paper, but I tried stitching some of the diamonds together and had trouble seeing (dark thread and fabric) because it was overcast and raining. I just looked on Amazon for a lighted magnifier and the reviews weren't that great.

Is there anything you use to help you see when stitching in the car?

When we used to rally, we needed a light for the clipboard. My husband found a plug-into the lighter flexible light that he mounted. Maybe you could look for a plug-in or battery powered light and then attach it to the dashboard of the car with Velcro. You could adjust the light however you needed to.

Try looking for a battery powered LED tap light or night light. Keep it with your sewing - not in the car.

I don't do much handwork, but my sister ALWAYS has embroidery work in her purse--everywhere she goes. She also has a dandy little magnifier that is lite (battery) that hangs around her neck and braces out from her chest to allow her to see better. Doesn't use it all the time but sure handy when lighting is poor.

Check Quilt N Bee. I purchased a Beam n Read for my self & my SIL. They also had an LED light/magnifier for around $25.00. I may have to get 1 of those also.

I really like the Beam n Read when I travel - but have not used it in the car. I have used a hiking light that is battery operated and you wear on your forehead. It may look a bit odd but it works great because you can adjust the beam of light to go where you want it. We go camping and I still like to read when I go to bead so got one of those things. It works well too when you are out walking at night.

Thank you. I looked at the Quilt N Bee website but didn't see any lights or magnifiers on it. I looked at the reviews for the Beam n Read but ended up buying a magnifier from Amazon that has a neck strap.

Whatever you find, makes sure it does NOT distract the driver. There are the magnifiers that sit on your chest that I believe has a light that is at JAF.

Also, just have to add -- if you have a magnifier be very aware where you lay it down so the sun won't start a fire. Maybe make a pouch to hold it when not in use?
