I have thought about it many times, but don't have one yet. I have a notebook that I jot down projects and ideas. I've been looking for a nice journal where I could keep fabric swatches, drawings, printouts, etc. but haven't found anything that 'talks' to me.

I have a notebook that I keep by my machine. Anything I need to calculate or sketch, I write in there, like if I'm figuring the length of something or how many squares I need or the dimensions the fabric I need to cut out a purse. I'll jot down the item name like Joyce's blue purse. I'm amazed at how often I calculate the length of a binding I need then immediately forget.

I e-mail my progress to a few friends and include pictures. If I want to know what I did when, I just search the email folder by keywords. I'd never be organized enough to maintain an actual journal or scrapbook, but this e-mail style of journal writing has been going on consistently for 8 years in exchanges with one good friend, who is also a crafter. I'd recommend it. Back-up the messages in case of a crash. I haven't always been consistent about that. If the friend also saves the messages, you have each other's back.

I haven't ever kept one, but I've thought about it. I do have graph paper notebook for my designs and I keep photos of all of them.

Really the quilt board is sort of my quilt journal. When I had a blog, it served the same purpose. But of course electronic stuff is so ephemeral. It would be a good idea to have something on paper, keep swatches, all that.
