Does anyone know what is a lock stitch for quilting by machine? Is this a special stitch?
My machine does have a selection of stitches. Thank you.

Geraldine,
It's very likely the back stitch at the beginning or end of each seam you start and end with. I can't imagine it being anything else, that's what I do on those paper patterns to keep them from ripping out when I tear the paper off.

Hope this helps,
Sharon

I have a new machine and it has a button called FIX that takes several stictchs before it goes forward to lock at the begining of the seam.

I have also heard this term used to "lock the stitches" at the beginning and ending of machine quilting.
