Default Log cabin sampler quilt

Hello, I am fairly new to quilting. I have found a beautiful quilt I would love to try but can't find instructions for it. It is on a page called cat-in-a-mac blogspot. It is a king size quilt in black white and grays. The only thing I could find was the person made 186 log cabin blocks. But I can't figure out how. If anyone could help I would appreciate it. Thanks so much, Sandy

cat-in-a-mac is the member who updates the photo albums section of the forum. Here is a link to the album and you can move around in it to see the quilts. If you find the one you are looking for, then copy and paste the link into a posting on this thread and then maybe someone can help you from there. And welcome to the forum! http://www.quiltingboard.com/members...-albums-8.html

no mater which one you saw, here is a lot of information about creating your own http://www.quilting-tidbits.com/log-cabin-quilt.html
and here is a link that shows the different methods to make a log cabin block http://www.quilting-tidbits.com/log-...t-pattern.html

most of the beautiful quilts that i see come from the color/fabric choices, not the block choice. good luck

I don't think I've seen that pattern, but I wanted to welcome you from the beautiful mountains of western NC.

Welcome to the board. Sometimes pictures are taken by the person who is quilting the quilt so they would not have any knowledge of the pattern. For someone who is new to quilting, it is best to start with something very simple and no larger than a lap quilt. It take a little time to get your 1/4" stitch to be accurate. Good Luck.

Is this the quilt? http://cat-on-a-mac.blogspot.com/sea...&max-results=7

Other than using some bordering fabrics, it is simply how the log cabin blocks are placed. Deciding on the size of the blocks which look to me like the logs may be 1" logs, strips cut at 1 1/2" before sewing. I am guessing that based on how many it took to make the pattern.

Edited to add: The LC Sampler is about half way down the page. She does explain most of what she did in her comments. Deciding on the LC block size will set the tone for the quilt.
