I have this warn out throw carpet on my floor that someone gave me used.. My table isn't big enough for me to do my ironing on... Now i always put a towel or blanket on the floor for an ironing pad.. well, I thought i'd save time and just do my ironing on this carpet... Or maybe I wasn't thinking at all... well, I have burnt marks on the carpet and burnt carpet residue on my iron... Now I'm waiting for the iron to cool so I can scrape off the melted carpet... I'm doin good today..

Disclaimer* No quilt fabric was harmed in my act of stupidity!

Thought you all could use a good laugh today!

after reading your post I thought I would share- one time when i was about 14 I was helping this handicapped woman that lived down the hall. She asked if I could iron a shirt for her. I said sure no problem. I layed it on her GLASS table and started ironing. Next thing I knew the table busted and glass was everywhere. I felt so bad. She wasn't mad, but I still felt bad.

Oh my! I'm sure glad your quilt wasn't harmed. The rest can be replaced. (Glad I'm not the only one who does boneheaded things) LOL

I did the same thing...I thought that the padding I had put down was thick enough but it wasn't, the steam and heat crisped the very top of the carpet... I was going to have to replace the carpet, but the flood that year took care of it for me

Did that at church one time on the chair, didn't completely ruin the chair. Anyhow they let me come back. Been going there for 10 years now.
