I have an 1802 and an 1803 that are similar to your 1774 - you are going to LOVE this machine! It does absolutely everything and it almost sews through bricks.
It's a very forgiving free-motion quilting machine - I use the monogrammer foot and release the pressure on the presser foot and it's like magic. My favorite quilting machine unless it's a large quilt - I do most of my queens and kings on a Singer 15. :)
