Lots of great suggestion but what size do you want this quilt to achieve??

Really pretty quilt. Usually like borders but if it is right size then a white strip and bind in white. If it isn't big enough, then I would opt for wider white border and let the colors sing as they are now.

My first thought was piano key border, then I read Tartans idea and loved how it would mimic what's going on now yet be different.

However your quilt is beautiful and really does not require a border to finish it like some do.

Thanks for the ideas. I hadn't thought of no border at all. Will have to think on that. I like the other ideas too. Time to do some experimenting. I would like it just a bit wider.

Beautiful quilt first of all. I like the idea of the film strip border using the colors of the squares in your quilt and I think that would make it have an overall look. Please post a picture with whatever you decide for a border. It is your quilt and you have to feel comfortable with your decision.

If you want it a bit larger here is what I would suggest:
I would use the dominant fabric in block 6 for a thin frame ( maybe 3/4" finished) and then a slightly wider ( maybe 2 1/4" finished) use of dominant fabric in block 14 and miter the corners...then bind it in the darkest color you have left in your fabric choices.

I've nothing to add to what has already been suggested - just wanted to say it is a really pretty quilt (with or without borders )

Unless you need a border for extra size, I'd leave it as is and just use whichever purple you prefer as the binding.

If it does need to be larger then I'd go with one of the "medium" purples as a border and finish with white binding.

It's a lovely quilt. If it were mine, I would add a four inch border using the darker blue in the block in the lower left hand corner. I love purple and have made several purple quilts, including one called "The Purple Cow Quilt," but purple is hard to fit into most decor. I think the blue would be easier to use. And I always want an inner border and at least one other border to frame the quilt. froggyintexas
