My Mother's Day gift is to be a new laptop. :-) Question to start with is Mac vs. Windows system. I have barely yet ventured into quilting software - just Carol Doak patterns. Is there a "quilting" reason to choose one over the other?

I just heard last week in a class that if you want to use the Electric Quilt computer program you cannot use it in a Mac. Other than that I don't know much about the quilting programs.

I'd say to stick with what you're used to. Each program becomes intutional and it's hard to switch back and forth. When I was working on my graphic arts degree some labs were on Macs and some used Windows (the college said it was so we would be better prepared for the work force). Oh how I hated those Mac labs, I'd end up trying to eject something and end up turning off the power. ACK!
