Default Presser Feet for My Bernina 1530 or do I really need a ruffler/pleater foot??

Does anyone know what feet originally came with a Bernina 1530?

My Bernina 1530 is second hand and when I got it, it only had one presser foot on it. I have been building up my presser foot collection for this machine and now I have a general purpose foot for zig zag, a 1/4" piecing foot (the only foot that came with it), and a FMQ hopping foot. I just ordered a walking foot and a zipper foot from ebay sellers.

What about a ruffler/pleater foot? Do I need one of those as well? I don't think it would have come as one of the feet with the machine, but it looks like a fun attachment. Do you have a ruffler foot and do you use it?

No no don't have. Purchase as you need. I find sometimes I use the wrong foot but it works. Ie a clear foot by the needle are and a wide hole easy to see needle and can do zigzag.
I would also look at a foot for free motion. I use a open front spring loaded foot but be careful low and high shank are available. Did this bernina have the wardrobe when it was new?

Is this the foot you're talking about?

If so, I would say "need" would depend on what you plan to sew . I don't have one and haven't missed it as I can't remember ever sewing anything with ruffles . Probably one of those things that's indispensable if you plan to sew what it is intended for.

I have a ruffler and only use it once in a while when making doll dresses for DGD's doll. Certainly not worth the investment as I could have just run two rows of stitches and pulled the threads. Perhaps you are speaking of a different attachment. There is a really expensive one that makes little pleats in fabric as opposed to gathers. I guess I have a gatherer.

It depends on what you will be sewing. For only quilting, probably not. If however, you intend to do garment or home dec, yes! If you intend, for instance, to make pillows with ruffled edges, a ruffler foot makes beautiful easy evenly spaced ruffled. You don't have to sew 2 basting threads, then carefully pull up the threads to distribute evenly the ruffles. Also, if making curtains, you can make the ruffles and attach it to a second fabric at the same time. I have several for different machines. Bottom line, if for what ever project, you intend to be making lots of ruffles, it is worth if for just the ease of making ruffles.
