Looking for name of old block

I found a block very similar called Egyptian lotus blossom. It is only the blossom part of the block and the center strip on your block goes all the way to the corner instead of ending with the triangle like the one in my book. My book is called 1000 Great Quilt Blocks by Maggi McCormick Gordon.

so, I found this pattern which, in my opinion, has been altered from an earlier pattern to make this new creation. I have yet to find your pattern here, but I must say that the one I have found is the closest that I have come across. I will continue to seek it out because I am in the process of creating an Angel Quilt for my Aunt and am desperately trying to find THAT one pattern that will accomplish my vision of the perfect quilt for her. here is the website I have found: http://www.quilterscache.com/F/FanandStarBlock.html

This was he closest one I have found to your block. Scroll down a bit until you come to Egyptian Lotus Flower. Your block looks like only the flower portion was used minus the stem and leaves and extended the center petal all the way to the corner.

You certainly have found a gem!!! - very pretty and unusual block! It would be informative if you could get a knowledgable quilt appraiser to give you an idea of the age of the fabric and perhaps background info on the pattern.
I would try contacting Barbara Brackman like another poster suggested.
