I was looking in the book "Everyday Angels in Extraordinary Quilts" by Mary Lou Weidman and saw the Plain & Simple quilt on page 53. There is no pattern in the book and I thought I would see if anyone has seen a pattern for this.

I just found out there isn't a pattern. Has anyone seen a similar one anywhere? The picture isn't the best but it shows the idea. It's actually a wall hanging 34 1/2" x 34 1/2".
Thanks

Love that book--and that angel! I believe it is an original and probably no pattern is available...However the author of the book has a website and you might contact her....http://www.marylouquiltdesigns.com/

She is a very creative quilter who pushes others to be creative, too...

That would be a beautiful wall hanging. I hope you can find a pattern.

I did contact the author. She said it was an original and she didn't have a pattern. I'm hoping someone can suggest something similar. I'm too new to quilting to try and create the pattern myself.

Sweet little quilt, think you could start with an applique for angel. Sure you can see the heart. To get a sense of scale try a photocopy and enlarge and grid it. Looks like it coud be done if you break it into component parts.

I think if you broke it down, you should be able to make it. You can pick your own demensions and fit it to them. If I'd be willing to give it a try, I bet you could too. There is no shame in trying or adapting it to your own abilities or ideas

I think the hardest part would be the wings. I have a template for the body of the angel. I'm thinking about just doing the angel and leaving off the flowers. Maybe just the angel and the borders without the on point square that's behind the angel. I would rather have it a little smaller anyway. I'm guessing the blocks on the wings are about 1" square but that's awfully small for 3 strips. Making them would be hard. Guess I'm going to have to think on this some more. I wanted to make if for my DD for Christmas but I don't think that will happen. I working on a queen size quilt for her and need to do one for my GS and his wife too.
