    Default Looking for Tote Pattern

Hi everyone I want to make a tote bag for my mom to carry her knitting and cross stitch stuff around in and I was wondering if anyone can share a pattern with me that I can use. I've tried searching online and there are so many to sort through, but most of them look like they are more purse like.

    Thanks

Check out the free patterns at about.com, they have everything from a grocery tote (open, simple) to a zippered style with pockets, also McCall's Quilting has a couple - not too many to sort through, but good ideas. Will at least help you get started.

allpeoplequilt.com also has some tote patterns. An easy way to help you pick on is to decide on what size you want first. You can always customize it with pockets for knitting needles and other accessories without an actual pattern.

Also, there is a website called patternspot.com that has a few free bag patterns.

Connecting Threads also has a section of free downloadable patterns and there are some various totes there. I'm not sure exactly what you're looking for in a bag but you can take a peek if you'd like to.

Here is one I use. It's super easy. It's fully lined too! and you can piece the fabric or embellish it, add pockets, or make it plain. Make it any size. It's so easy kids can make them. My grandmother use to make these from pillowcases but they weren't called tote bags then. LOL Here is an online tutorial of an updated pattern: http://www.lazygirldesigns.com/blog/...iday-gift-bags

For a more firm tote bag I quilt the fabric with batting but don't add backing. I let the lining be the backing.
